Aras Seddigh's series Impersonating, realized in the early days of the pandemic, addresses themes such as timelessness, placelessness, and the search for language and identity through transitions between the organic and the inorganic. Seddigh selects both the paper she uses and the materials that settle upon it according to their effects on the surface: in her world, sharp lines or marks denote the boundaries of a different time and reality, while fugitive colors or soft stains signal the boundlessness of fiction. The artist impersonate certain images and symbols she has employed before, this time demonstrating the construction of different forms and subjects.
